About Us

The Fulbright Student Association at SIUC builds a sustainable and supportive community for Fulbright scholarship recipients, including undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students, as well as faculty and staff. The association serves as a vital platform for cross-cultural networking, academic solidarity, and mutual friendship between international scholars and the local community.

Mission

To create a robust network of Fulbright students and alumni, assist the needs of both new and established scholars, and foster service and solidarity among its members.

Vision

A connected pan-global student community at SIU Carbondale that cultivates deep cultural exchange, mutual interests, and an open environment to share knowledge and experiences.

Goals

Coordinate educational, social, athletic, and civic activities to build community awareness; manage a cultural event calendar; maintain structured regular and executive meetings; and provide inclusive, non-discriminatory programs and reasonable accommodations for all members.

Roxana del Carmen Cumpa LLontop

President

Roxana is a TESOL graduate student from Chiclayo, Peru, and a 2025 Fulbright Scholar. With experience teaching English and French, she is passionate about language education and cultural exchange. She enjoys traveling, learning about new cultures and languages, reading, singing karaoke with friends, and cooking traditional Peruvian food and desserts.
